Application refers to GameBooks, the software program provided by the Company, available on iOS and Android mobile platforms.

Country refers to: Denmark
Device means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.

Service refers to the Application.

It refers to third-party companies or individuals employed by the Company to facilitate the Service, to provide the Service on behalf of the Company, to perform services related to the Service or to assist the Company in analyzing how the Service is used.
Third-party Authentication Provider means external services such as Google, Apple, Discord, Dropbox, Spotify, or Twitch that provide authentication services allowing you to log in to our Service using your existing accounts with those providers.
Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of time spent reading a story).
You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.

Types of Data Collected
Personal Data
While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:
- Email address
- First name and last name
- Usage Data
Authentication Methods: You may choose to create an account using our built-in registration system or by authenticating through third-party providers including Google, Apple, Discord, Dropbox, Spotify, or Twitch. When you use these third-party authentication services, we receive basic profile information from these providers (such as your name and email address) according to your privacy settings with those providers. We do not receive your password from these providers.
Usage Data
Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.
Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), device type, the stories You read or listen to, the time and date of Your use, the time spent on stories, reading progress, preferences and settings, and other diagnostic data.
When You access the Service through a mobile device, We may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device You use, Your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of Your mobile device, Your mobile operating system, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
Tracking Technologies and Cookies
We use limited tracking technologies to provide and improve Our Service. The technologies We use may include:
Local Storage: We may use local storage on Your Device to store preferences, reading progress, and other information necessary to provide the Service functionality.
Analytics: We may use analytics tools to understand how users interact with Our Service, helping us improve the user experience. We ensure any analytics used are configured to be privacy-friendly and compliant with children's privacy regulations.
Use of Your Personal Data
The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain our Service, including to monitor the usage of our Service and to provide you with the interactive storybook experience.
To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as a user of the Service. The Personal Data You provide can give You access to different functionalities of the Service that are available to You as a registered user.
To contact You: To contact You by email or other equivalent forms of electronic communication regarding updates, new stories, or informative communications related to the functionalities or services, including security updates, when necessary or reasonable for their implementation.
To provide You with news and general information about new stories, features and updates which we offer, unless You have opted not to receive such information.
To manage Your requests: To attend and manage Your requests to Us.
For other purposes: We may use Your information for other purposes, such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our content and to evaluate and improve our Service, stories, features and your experience.
We may share Your personal information in the following situations:
- With Service Providers: We may share Your personal information with Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service, to provide customer support, or to process payments.
- With Your consent: We may disclose Your personal information for any other purpose with Your consent.
Retention of Your Personal Data
The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
The Company will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of Our Service, or We are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.
When a user or parent requests deletion of Personal Data, we will delete the information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by Your submission of such information represents Your agreement to that transfer.

Delete Your Personal Data
You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You.
How to Delete Your Account
To delete your account:
- Log in to your account and navigate to the account deletion page
- Click the "Delete Account" button to initiate the deletion process
- You will receive a confirmation email with a secure link
- Click the link in the email to verify your identity
- Click the final confirmation button to complete the deletion
Your account and personal data will be permanently deleted from our system.
What Happens When You Delete Your Account?
Personal Data Deleted:
- Your email address and username are permanently removed from our system
- Authentication data (social login connections) is deleted
- Any preferences or settings stored on our servers are removed
Local Data:
Data stored locally on your device is not automatically deleted when you delete your account. To clear local data:
- Browser: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data (select cookies, local storage, and cached files)
- Mobile app: Device Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage → Clear data/cache
Clearing local data will remove:
- Downloaded story content
- Reading and listening progress
- Language and theme preferences
- Login session
Financial Records (Retained for Legal Compliance):
Under Danish and EU law, we are required to retain financial transaction records for accounting and tax purposes. When you delete your account:
- Your purchase history records are retained but anonymized
- Your personal identity is removed from these records (they cannot be linked back to you)
- These anonymized records contain only transaction details: amount, date, status
- Any personal information in payment callback data is erased
- These records are kept for 5 years as required by law and then deleted
This retention is permitted under GDPR Article 17(3)(b), which states that the right to erasure does not apply when processing is necessary for compliance with legal obligations.
Limitations on Data Deletion
We may need to retain certain information when we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so:
- Transaction records for accounting, tax compliance, and fraud prevention (anonymized, retained for 5 years)
- Legal records necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements
- Compliance data required to meet regulatory obligations
These records are kept only as long as legally required, are anonymized so they cannot identify you, and are not used for any other purpose.
Disclosure of Your Personal Data
Business Transactions
If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

- PARAGLIDE_LOCALE: Stores your selected language preference so the Service displays in your chosen language
- theme: Stores your display preference (light or dark mode)
Local Storage:
Our Service uses browser local storage and IndexedDB to store:
- Language preference: Your selected language (PARAGLIDE_LOCALE)
- Theme preference: Your selected display theme
- Reading and listening progress: Your progress through stories, including which chapters you've read or listened to, and where you left off. This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Story content: Chapters, images, and audio files are stored locally on your device to enable offline access and improve loading speed. This content never leaves your device.
Legal Basis for Cookies
Essential cookies are necessary to provide the Service you have requested and do not require your consent under EU law. Preference cookies store your explicit choices and are used to honor those preferences.
Managing Cookies
Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the Service to function. Disabling these cookies would prevent you from logging in and using the Service.

Cookie Duration
- Session cookies (connect.sid, authjs.callback-url) are deleted when you close your browser or log out
- Preference cookies (PARAGLIDE_LOCALE, theme) persist until you clear them or change your preferences
- Local storage remains on your device until you clear it through browser settings or delete your account
Age Requirement
Our Service is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 13 years of age.
To use our Service, you must confirm that you are 13 years of age or older during the account creation process. You will not be able to proceed with registration, including authentication through third-party providers such as Google, Apple, Discord, Dropbox, Spotify, or Twitch, without confirming that you meet this age requirement.
